What is a pawn loan?

A pawn loan is a fast and easy way to get the cash you need without the hassle of a bank, payday lenders or credit checks. Your credit score and background will not be used to determine if you can receive a loan. The pawn loan is a collateral-based loan. Meaning that the loan is secured by something of value. We will offer you a loan based on the items that you bring in. The loan amount will be based on the value of the merchandise you leave with us as collateral. Your items will be securely held at the Money Mart Pawn & Jewelry location where you are getting a loan. You may reclaim your items at any time before or by the end of the loan term by paying the full loan amount plus interest and fees. If your loan is not paid by the end date, your items will become the property of Money Mart Pawn & Jewelry. The details of your loan will be carefully explained before you leave the store. Just bring in your valid, government-issued ID and you can walk out with the cash in hand in minutes.

What items are accepted to be sold or pawned?

Items that are acceptable for selling and pawning are similar, however some items may be easier to sell such as items with a lesser value such as Video Games, DVD's, Charms, etc. Items that are being pawned must have a certain value in order to provide you with a cash loan. Items of acceptable value include:

  • Gold, silver & precious metals
  • Gems, jewels, diamonds, & precious stones
  • Jewelry pieces such as necklaces, rings, bracelets, watches, etc.
  • Electronic items including cameras, laptops, and smartphones
  • Sports equipment
  • Power tools
  • Authentic sports and music memorabilia
  • Musical instruments
  • Designer handbags & accessories such as belts and sunglasses

Not any item that falls into these categories will be accepted. Our staff will determine the value of each item, and whether it is acceptable for purchase or for a loan. Some items are more valuable, and some carry certain restrictions. For example, electronics typically should not be more than 1 year old. Technology becomes outdated quickly and drops in value. All items will be inspected and tested to see if they are working and in quality condition. We also do not accept broken or non-working items. For more information on acceptable loan items, visit your nearest Money Mart Pawn & Jewelry location.

How do you determine the value of my item?

Each item will be inspected and tested to ensure that they are in working and quality condition. An appraisal will be performed, and any necessary authenticity checks will be performed. For jewelry pieces, certain tactics and tools are used to properly value the item. Gold value is based on current market rates as well as the weight of the object among other factors. Diamond value is based on a small percentage of the wholesale market, carat, cut, color, and clarity. The resale value of any and all items rely on the condition the item is in, as well as the ability to be attractive for sale within our stores.
